Govan is one of the most famous areas of Glasgow due to the influence of shipbuilding, football and culture. In recent years, as the shipbuilding industry has declined, Govan has been scoring high in the Scottish Government’s ‘index of multiple deprivation’ and they rank in the bottom 10% of communities in the country in terms of deprivation.

Yet Govan is still full of good people – 30,000 in the area as a whole – proud of their community and with a heart to see it continue to thrive. Sadly, there are only a few gospel-preaching churches for such a vast amount of people.

Harper Church Glasgow and 20schemes are working together to replant a church right in the heart of this iconic and historically working class Glaswegian community.
