Crosslands has grown substantially over the past few years, increasing the scale and complexity of our programmes and the information systems and solutions we use to deliver our activities, support our learners and track vital information. We are looking for someone with a keen interest in information systems and digital solutions, an aptitude for learning and improving business systems and processes and who would like to use and grow their skills in a ministry context.  There is scope for training in this role, either a formal qualification or appropriate on-demand courses (eg Udemy; Codeacademy) whilst gaining a relevant degree qualification.

What would the role involve?

The role is based in Newcastle upon Tyne, working as a member of the Crosslands Operations team.  The typical working week would include a combination of systems development and maintenance (eg improving integrations, setting up task automations, streamlining business processes), user IT support (internal and external users), administrative support to our programme managers, and data management and analysis. There would also be opportunity to provide tech solutions and support for live conferences and online events. Crosslands is evolving as an organisation which means there is plenty of scope for the role to evolve over time. 

Your role within Crosslands would include: 

  • Providing user support for existing digital tools and platforms (students, faculty, other staff) in Google suite, cloud and Mac environment 
  • Maintaining and improving existing digital tools and platforms
  • Supporting programme managers with programme operations support, including but not limited to business process and information management for programme delivery. 
  • Providing technical setup and support for events and conferences
  • Developing our data management systems
  • Providing business insights through use of data analytics
  • Contributing to the development of our longer term digital infrastructure, working with an experienced developer.

This is a full-time role, mostly office based with some scope for hybrid working and an occasional requirement for travel within the UK to events and conferences.  The salary will be based on the higher education pay scales, with the starting spine point to be set according to the successful applicant’s experience and qualifications.  The reward package includes 25 days’ annual leave and a generous employer’s pension contribution.  

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for an individual who has a keen interest in technology and digital solutions, demonstrated through personal projects, GCSE or A-level subjects, independent study and/or work experience. The role will suit someone who is confident working both independently and in a collaborative way. It is also important that you have excellent organisational skills and the ability to multitask as priorities change.

Candidates must have GCSE grade A* – C or equivalent in Maths and English, and two or more A-levels or other similar qualification..

Occupational requirement: As a result of our Christian ethos, the successful applicant will be expected to be a practising Christian in good standing with their local church and able to sign the Crosslands Statement of Faith.
