We’ve loved receiving your feedback!

The content of this post was mainly written by Crosslands learners.

In 2025, Crosslands asked for and received more feedback than ever, and we’ve loved receiving it, warts and all, from across every programme. People who’ve taken or led a Foundation course, Basecamp students, who have been surprised and delighted, Seminary alumni who graduated several years ago, and experienced leaders who’ve joined in our Lifelong Learning cohorts.

Thank you to everyone who has taken time to capture and share your views. It’s the most valuable gift which we receive with thanks. And most of all we are thankful to the Lord for the work He’s doing in you and through you; thankful for the churches who are strengthening and equipping the saints for mission and ministry; thankful and humbled to be able to partner with you in this.

Here’s just a little taster – browse through it all or jump to a specific programme:

Foundation courses:

Foundation Bible Overview: I loved this course. Doing my best to catch up on years of not walking with Christ so this has been an awesome learning experience and has accelerated my walk and relationship with Christ.

Foundation Gospel Transformation: ‘Enjoyed the entire course. Hard to pick out a favorite but this has only accelerated my understanding of the gospel and my relationship with Christ! Loved the pictures, charts, tables, etc to keep things different instead of just reading the entire time. Praise God!! Thank you for all you’ve done. A lot of time and effort went into these courses and I am grateful for everyone who contributed. God is good.

Foundation Reading and Understanding the Bible: ‘I think the course was brilliant. As someone who has studied the Doctrine of God and similar themes that came up in the course, there was a lot of crossover, but also a lot of new things to learn and new angles to reflect on…. This course has taught me skills that will help me handle God’s word more carefully and thoroughly as I teach and as I study for my own edification and the edification of others…. A huge thank you for all the effort put into these training resources! Thank you for your heart to train up God’s people to handle and teach His word well for His glory and His people’s good!

Basecamp programme

Basecamp Student: [My brother] and I are both loving Crosslands and actually it has brought us closer together as brothers, Which was a surprising positive so far! My dad is also currently [unwell] and my draft essay on the exegesis of Romans 8 really blessed him and encouraged him – not academically of course but the call to endure for the profound weight of glory that awaits us. I am just one of the students that Basecamp is ministering to, in so many ways. What a ministry to be involved in! Be blessed!

Basecamp student: We can often forget about the basics and its importance. Starting from just how we read/understand the Bible to then moving to the doctrine and discipleship were helpful foundations. I enjoyed how everything pointed back to Jesus, grace, and the work of the cross.

Basecamp student: There were so many [highlights] it’s hard to narrow it down! The biggest highlight was the pastoral care module which massively improved my confidence in that area of ministry. The most pleasant surprise was the church history module, which I was looking forward to least of the six, but challenged me hugely about sources of learning and wisdom I had neglected.

Basecamp Feedback from a student in his 60’s – his feedback was so rich and helpful that we turned it into a blog post .

Seminary programme

In 2025 we did our first long term evaluation survey of past Seminary students – engaging those who had graduated 3 years ago or more. We heard back from over 75% of them. And they gave us a ‘net promoter score’ (how likely are you to recommend Crosslands to others) of 84. For those who are familiar with how NPS works, 75 is considered excellent.

We are still drawing many insights from the rich data and generous feedback they shared! The data shows very strong patterns of Crosslands alumni…

  • sustaining the strong levels of spiritual growth and vitality that they tell us the programme helped them to foster;
  • remaining in ministry;
  • moving into formal ministry roles (for those who were in other kinds of day-job when they enrolled with Crosslands);
  • growing in responsibility, moving into increasingly to senior ministry roles;
  • making an impact through church planting and revitalisation, training others, building community engagement initiatives, and leading evangelism.

Here are some of the comments they shared with us:

Church planting pastor, Sweden: Effective gospel ministry depends on a solid foundation… Crosslands filled many of the theological gaps I was aware of and helped me see theological gaps I wasn’t. It gave me more than knowledge; it gave me the tools to continue to grow and thrive in ministry.

Church pastor, UK: Ministry is all about the people God places in your life and under your care. Sound theology is very important, but applying it day by day, to real situations. to the people around you and yourself is what ministry seems to be all about. I enjoyed how Crosslands allowed me to study whilst remaining in my context, as this has been hugely beneficial.

Church planting pastor, Ireland: Crosslands was incredibly foundational, especially to think theologically and live devotionally. The lasting benefit has been the realization that we never truly “arrive” in the Christian life, but are continually growing in Christ and in our knowledge of Him through His Word. Since completing my time at Crosslands, I have gone on to plant a church in Dublin, Ireland, two years ago, sent out from another local church. By God’s grace, my experience at Crosslands played a significant role in shaping both my theology and philosophy of ministry, preparing me for this work.

Church pastor, NE England: We’ve had a wonderful revitalisation story which has led to renewed enthusiasm in many members, people rediscovering church and several new community initiatives across age ranges. Thinking theologically will stand you in good stead for teaching, leading, conflict, personal growth, discipleship and wherever else ministry throws your way!

Church planter, Middle East: I helped to plant an international church in Athens… and am now lead pastor of a Farsi speaking church. I run a pastoral/expositional training program with various pastors/potential leaders here, and an internship. The learning I received wasn’t just for that season—it continues to be applied as I grow and serve in ministry. Some of what I learned didn’t feel immediately relevant at the time, but has proven to be incredibly valuable in my current season.

Police Officer: The course does a good job of growing not just your knowledge but also your love of Jesus. I’ve run several evangelistic courses at Church and have recently started a group aimed at following up those courses. It’s been a joy to watch people responding to the Gospel during this time.

IT professional: Crosslands has enabled me to think theologically about all aspects of life, applying biblical principles and understanding to everything from family life, parenting and marriage to work, finance & free time. Not to mention equipping me to help lead God’s people as an elder at our church.

Lifelong Learning courses

Church Pastor, Scotland on Doctrine of God reading group: I just wanted to say a huge thank you for the Webster reading group over these past 4 weeks. It was such a privilege to be part of the group. Jonathan led it superbly and, as always, your organisation was exemplary. These lifelong courses are outstanding and I am so grateful to you both for your work. I came into this reading group knowing very little of Webster’s work. I now feel much more informed and equipped, although at the same time realising just how little I know!

Lay leader on Doctrine of God reading group: Introductions to the chapters by Jonathan were helpful, along with all the helpful things spotted by other participants that I hadn’t grasped! Hard reading but ‘easy’ discussion – not that the discussion wasn’t also high level, but it was not intimidating.

Church Pastor on Annual Formation Review event: Thank you for laying on an excellent micro-retreat. I’m on sabbatical and it has given me lots of helpful fuel for reflection and planning over the next couple of months. I’ve just shared some of your questions over lunch with my wife and we had a fruitful discussion as a result… So, thank you again for your generosity in offering this retreat to us and doing it for free and the care you showed in the way you delivered it. You’ve blessed me significantly.

Church Pastor on Cultivating Leadership: In many ways I wish I had engaged with this material many years ago.. but at the same time much of what you shared was so applicable to me and the situation I find myself in right now that this was clearly God’s time.

Women’s ministry leader on Cultivating Leadership: Thank you so much for the Cultivating Leadership course we’ve been doing – I have found it really thought-provoking and directly helpful to my daily roles. I’ve never done any formal leadership training before and am finding this really “scratches where I’m itching”,

Church Pastor on Cultivating Leadership: The richness and breadth of the course content was wonderful, it’s one of the best seminars/short courses I’ve joined, so thankful! The leader of the seminars spoke with gentleness, openness and humility, which modelled the sense of all learning together during ministry, work and life in leadership.
