One week to go: Equipping All the Saints

Fiona Parker, Crosslands Foundation manager

What if the ministry of the church didn’t depend on a handful of gifted or paid people? What if a vision for training and a desire to keep learning was caught by the whole congregation?

For ordinary Christians to feel confident and equipped to follow and serve Jesus – in church, in their families, workplaces, neighbourhoods and communities – we need a whole-church strategy for training.

That’s the reason behind Equipping All the Saints, a series of workshops on Zoom, designed to help us think practically about what it means to equip God’s people for ministry, whatever stage they’re in.

It’s a week until we start this course, and the countdown is on!

The starting point is familiar. In Ephesians 4, Paul describes Christ giving leaders to his church “to equip his people for works of service” –  with the result that the whole body of Christ is built up and grows towards maturity.

It’s a wonderfully big vision. But what would it look like in your church?

If Crosslands Foundation had a voicemail

In Crosslands, we get a lot of these questions asked of us, as leaders think through the nuts and bolts of a training plan. Here are some of the questions we’ve received from Crosslands Foundation managers, which you may have asked yourselves:

  • Who’s the kind of person that we’re trying to reach?
  • What sort of materials would be helpful for our people?
  • How long might a session last?
  • How many people might join a group?
  • What are we expecting of them?
  • How can we make learning accessible for the whole church family?
  • How can we help other leaders to motivate and inspire their groups?
  • How can we provide better feedback for learners?
  • How can we help people to stay on course when life challenges appear?

Whatever your questions, and whatever church context you’re in, every church can be a training church. And Crosslands Director Jen Charteris is passionate about helping leaders make that a reality.

Plans that are sustainable and realistic

This four part course is for anyone who wants help to develop a vision, culture and plans for congregational training in their local churches, whether as a pastor, volunteer or staff member. Rooted in a biblical vision for learning as a gift from our Creator – who wants to be known – the four-session course will also walk you through principles, tools and practical tips. By the end of the course you’ll be ready to develop a realistic plan for building out a sustainable training programme that’s tailored for the needs and opportunities in your local church.

We’d love you to join us on Mondays from 28th September 2026 (daytime and evening options available). Discounts are available for church teams sharing a screen – please get in touch to find out more, and to book your place.
